Care & Safety

Welcome to the My Mori care guide.
Below you will find recommendations for safe candle use and proper care of concrete and plaster pieces. Following these guidelines will help maintain the appearance, durability, and integrity of your items.

1. Candles

First Burn

Before lighting, ensure the wick is trimmed to approximately 6–7 mm (1/4 inch).
During the first burn, allow the wax to melt fully to the edges of the vessel. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures even performance in future burns.

Burn Conditions

Always place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep away from drafts, flammable objects, children, and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Burn Time

Do not burn candles for more than 3–4 hours at a time. Extended burning may cause overheating and reduce candle performance.

Wick Care

Trim the wick to approximately 6–7 mm before each use. Proper trimming ensures a clean, steady flame and reduces soot.

Wax Removal & Vessel Reuse

Once the candle has finished, remaining wax can be removed by placing the vessel in the freezer for several hours. The wax will shrink and can be lifted out easily.
Clean gently with warm water and mild soap. The vessel may then be reused as a decorative container or home accessory.

2. Concrete Pieces

Cleaning

Wipe with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh cleaning agents, as they may damage the surface or protective seal.

Moisture

Although sealed, concrete pieces should not be submerged in water or exposed to prolonged moisture.

Placement

Keep away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature changes to preserve color and surface texture.

Natural Variation

Each concrete item is handcrafted. Slight variations in tone, texture, small air bubbles, or subtle irregularities are natural characteristics of the material and not considered defects.

3. Plaster Pieces

Cleaning

Dust gently using a dry or slightly damp soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and excessive moisture.

Moisture Sensitivity

Plaster is sensitive to water. Do not immerse in water or place in high-humidity environments. Prolonged exposure may alter the surface.

Placement

Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources to preserve the original finish.

Natural Variation

Due to the handmade process, minor differences in texture, color, or small surface bubbles may occur. These are part of the unique character of each piece and are not considered flaws.

Safety Notice

  • Keep all products out of reach of children and pets.
  • Decorative vessels and objects are not food-safe and must not be used for serving, storing, or consuming food or beverages.
  • My Mori pieces are intended for decorative use only unless otherwise specified.
  • Always follow candle safety precautions.

Material Characteristics & Heat Exposure

Concrete and plaster are natural porous materials. Over time, subtle surface changes, tonal variations, micro hairline cracks, or patina may develop. These changes are normal and part of the material’s natural aging process.

When used as candle vessels, slight surface darkening or discoloration may occur due to heat exposure. This does not affect the structural integrity of the product and is not considered a defect.
